I built this speaker as a gift. This post is an overview of the design and construction process.
Before I began construction, I created a model in Inventor. This allowed me to compare different designs and find the one I liked best.

I added two boards (center and bottom) to prevent back-feeding the converter while charging, cut off the battery at low voltage, and allow the battery to be bypassed with wall power.
